Olive Beardsworth lives at Queensridge Court, an extra care scheme, in Oldbury. She was nominated for the ‘Good Neighbour’ Award.
The nomination explained: “Queensridge Court consists of two separate buildings and Olive (who is 90 years young) is the mother of the court checking on everyone, visiting them when not well whether it be on court or in hospital, accompanying them to hospital or doctors, shopping, looking out for any problems and supporting all in both buildings come rain, snow or sometimes sunshine.
“She assists in helping new people coming onto court to settle by visiting them, taking them under her wing and helping them become part of the wonderful community that exists at Queensridge.
“A group of ladies (some with dementia) each week go to Age UK on the Ring and Ride and Olive accompanies them ensuring they get on the bus, keeping an eye open for them at the club and getting them safely on the bus home.
“Another role she has taken on is volunteering in the shop on site where anyone who wants to come in for a chat and not necessarily to buy anything is quite welcome. Most of the time not much is sold but plenty of chatting happens!
“Olive is a very caring person looking out for everyone and deserves recognition for this.”
